Last week, when I found out that Bruce Mau was coming to Chicago, I decided that I wanted to work with him, and that brought me to this: http://www.brucemaudesign.com/jobs.html
The application process involves answering 3 questions:
1) In the future, how will we communicate?
2) Will we shift from the service of war to the service of life?
3) How will we eradicate poverty?
My immediate answers are
1) Esperanto
2) No
3) Wealth
I’ve taken time to contemplate each of these questions. I am just now putting them into words, but I am somewhat obsessed by the beauty of asking good questions that invoke real thought. My mind has been turned in knots, I’ve sought help from friends, and I have learned one important lesson. The chances of me getting a job with Bruce Mau are slim, at best. But I am a better person for having chosen to apply and to think about these questions. They have helped refine my definition of who I am as a person.
Maybe I should clutter my desk more in appreciation to Bruce.
